What is Mind-muscle connection?

Mind-muscle connection is the skill of focusing on the muscle you are training so you can feel it working during each rep.

Also called: muscle connection, mind muscle link.

The mind-muscle connection means paying attention to the target muscle while you lift. Instead of just moving the weight from A to B, you think about squeezing and controlling the working muscle, such as your chest during a press. It takes practice, so be patient with yourself in the first few weeks.

It often helps beginners learn better form and use lighter, more controlled weights. For example, on a biceps curl, avoid swinging your back and focus on feeling the front of your arm shorten and lengthen. Use it alongside, not instead of, progressive overload and good technique.
