How to do the snatch
- 1
Set your feet hip-width apart with the bar over mid-foot and a wide grip, so the bar rests in your hip crease when standing. Keep your chest up and back flat.
- 2
Pull the bar off the floor, extend hard through the hips, shrug, and pull yourself under it, catching it overhead with locked arms in a full squat. Then stand up.
- 3
Lower the bar carefully to the floor, controlling it back. Brace and breathe in before each rep and keep the bar close to your body.
Form tip: Learn with a light bar or a broomstick. Keep the bar close and lock out your elbows in the catch.
