What is Warm-up?
A warm-up is a short, easy block of movement before training that raises your heart rate and prepares your muscles and joints.
Also called: warm up, warmup, pre-workout routine.
A warm-up gets your body ready for the harder work ahead. It usually takes 5 to 10 minutes and includes light cardio, dynamic movements like arm circles or leg swings, and a few lighter practice sets of your first exercise.
A good warm-up helps you feel loose and ready, and it lets you practise the movement before the real weight. For example, before squats you might walk briskly for three minutes, do bodyweight squats and hip openers, then do a light set with an empty bar. If something hurts, stop and seek advice.
