How to do the assisted pull up (machine)

  1. 1

Set the pin on the stack to the assistance you need, then kneel or stand on the pad. Grip the handles slightly wider than your shoulders with palms facing away.

  2. 2

Pull your elbows down toward your sides until your chin is above the handles. Keep your chest up and your shoulders pulled away from your ears.

  3. 3

Lower under control until your arms are straight, without letting the pad drop you. Breathe out on the way up and in on the way down.

Form tip: Do not let the machine do all the work by bouncing out of the bottom; use less assistance over time as you get stronger.
