How to do the back extension
- 1
Set the pad on the back extension bench so it sits just below your hips, and hook your heels under the rollers. Cross your arms over your chest and start with your body in a straight line.
- 2
Lower your torso toward the floor by hinging at the hips, keeping your back flat. Then raise back up until your body forms a straight line from head to heels.
- 3
Squeeze your glutes at the top and stop there without arching further. Breathe in on the way down and out as you rise.
Form tip: Do not hyperextend your lower back at the top; stopping when your body is straight protects your spine.
