How to do the overhead tricep extension (cable)
- 1
Set a cable to a low or mid pulley with a rope or bar. Face away from the stack, hold the attachment behind your head and take a staggered stance with elbows pointing forward.
- 2
Extend your arms forward and up until they are straight overhead, squeezing your triceps. Keep your upper arms still near your ears.
- 3
Bend slowly to return, feeling the stretch behind your head over about 3 seconds. Breathe out as you extend and in as you bend.
Form tip: Keep your ribs down and do not arch your back; if your elbows flare out, drop the weight.
