How to do the chest press (machine)

  1. 1

Adjust the seat so the handles line up with your mid chest. Sit with your back flat against the pad, feet on the floor, and grip the handles with wrists straight.

  2. 2

Press the handles forward until your arms are almost straight, without locking your elbows. Slowly bring them back until your elbows are in line with your torso.

  3. 3

Exhale as you press and inhale as you return over about three seconds. Keep your shoulder blades pulled back against the pad.

Form tip: Do not let your shoulders roll forward or lift your butt off the seat to push more weight.
