How to do the front raise (dumbbell)

  1. 1

Stand tall holding a dumbbell in each hand in front of your thighs, palms facing your body. Keep a soft bend in your elbows and brace your core.

  2. 2

Raise one or both dumbbells straight in front of you to shoulder height with your arms nearly straight. Pause briefly at the top.

  3. 3

Lower slowly without letting the weights swing. Breathe out as you lift and in as you lower.

Form tip: Do not lift above shoulder height or lean back to swing the weights; keep your ribs down and the reps smooth.
