Muscles worked
How to do the hip abduction (machine)
- 1
Sit on the machine with your back flat against the pad, place your outer thighs against the pads and set the starting width comfortably.
- 2
Push your legs apart as far as you comfortably can, driving your knees out against the pads with control.
- 3
Pause for a second, then bring them back slowly without letting the weights crash. Breathe out as you push out and in as you return.
Form tip: Keep your back against the pad and avoid rocking your torso; leaning slightly forward can place more load on the glutes.
