What is Rest interval?
A rest interval is the time you wait between sets before starting the next one.
Also called: rest period, rest time between sets.
The rest interval is your break between sets. It lets your muscles and breathing recover so you can do your next set well. Short rests, about 30 to 60 seconds, keep the workout fast, while longer rests of 2 to 3 minutes suit heavy lifts.
Rest depends on the exercise and your goal. For example, you might rest two minutes after heavy squats but only 60 seconds after bicep curls. If your reps keep dropping a lot because you rest too little, add some time. Use a phone timer to stay consistent.
