Muscles worked
How to do the woodchop (cable)
- 1
Set a cable to a high or low position, stand sideways to it with feet shoulder-width apart, and hold the handle with both hands.
- 2
Pull the handle diagonally across your body, rotating your torso and pivoting your back foot, until your hands finish by the opposite shoulder or hip.
- 3
Control the return and keep your arms mostly straight. Breathe out as you chop and in as you return. Switch sides after your reps.
Form tip: Turn from your torso and hips, not just your arms, and keep your core braced.
