How to do the decline sit up

  1. 1

Lie back on a decline bench with your feet tucked under the pads, knees bent and arms crossed on your chest.

  2. 2

Curl your body up until your torso is upright, tightening your abs as you rise.

  3. 3

Lower slowly until your back is nearly flat again. Breathe out as you sit up and in as you lower.

Form tip: Begin with a mild decline; a steeper slope makes it much harder and can strain your lower back.
