Muscles worked
How to do the floor press (barbell)
- 1
Lie on the floor inside a rack with the bar set at a height you can unrack easily. Bend your knees with feet flat, and grip the bar just outside shoulder width.
- 2
Lower the bar until your upper arms lightly touch the floor, elbows about 45 degrees from your body. Press the bar up until your arms are straight.
- 3
Pause for a second with your triceps on the floor, then press out with a breath. Do not bounce off the floor.
Form tip: Let your elbows rest, do not slam them down; the floor limits depth and makes this easy on your shoulders.
