How to do the hill sprint
- 1
Warm up with 10 minutes of easy jogging and some leg swings. Find a hill with a moderate, even slope and a safe, clear surface.
- 2
Sprint uphill for 10 to 20 seconds at hard effort, leaning slightly forward, driving your knees up and pumping your arms. Stay on the balls of your feet.
- 3
Walk slowly back down to recover for 60 to 90 seconds, then repeat for 4 to 6 rounds. Breathe deeply in the recovery and walk the downhill rather than running it.
Form tip: Choose a gentle hill to begin with. Stop if you feel calf or hamstring tightness, and never sprint on wet or loose ground.
