Muscles worked
How to do the lateral lunge
- 1
Stand tall with feet together, holding one dumbbell at your chest or a dumbbell in each hand. Keep your chest up and core braced.
- 2
Take a big step to the side and sit your hips back, bending that knee while the other leg stays straight. Push through the bent leg to return to standing.
- 3
Lower over 2 seconds, breathing in as you step and out as you rise. Keep both feet flat and facing forward.
Form tip: Keep your chest up and the straight leg's foot flat; do not let your bent knee cave inward, and go as deep as you comfortably can.
