How to do the bicep curl (barbell)
- 1
Stand tall holding a barbell with an underhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart, and arms straight. Keep your elbows tucked at your sides and your core tight.
- 2
Curl the bar up toward your shoulders by bending your elbows only. Squeeze your biceps hard at the top.
- 3
Lower the bar slowly over 2 to 3 seconds until your arms are fully straight. Breathe out as you curl and in as you lower.
Form tip: Do not swing your hips or let your elbows drift forward; if you have to lean back to lift, drop the weight.
