How to do the clap push up

  1. 1

Start in a high plank with hands slightly wider than your shoulders and your core braced. Use a soft surface or mat and have a clear space around you.

  2. 2

Lower your chest toward the floor, then explode upward so your hands leave the ground and clap quickly. Land with soft, slightly bent elbows.

  3. 3

Exhale as you explode and inhale as you lower. Reset after each rep and stop if your form or speed drops.

Form tip: Land softly with bent elbows and never lock out on landing; master normal push ups before attempting this.
