How to do the calf raise (leg press)

  1. 1

Sit in the leg press with your back flat on the pad, place the balls of your feet low on the platform with your legs almost straight.

  2. 2

Unrack the weight, keep your knees nearly straight but not locked, and push the platform away by pointing your toes.

  3. 3

Pause for a second, then let your toes come back slowly to feel a deep calf stretch. Breathe out as you push and in as you return.

Form tip: Keep your knees still; if they bend and straighten, you are doing a leg press, not a calf raise.
