How to do the oblique crunch

  1. 1

Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Place one hand behind your head and drop both knees gently to one side.

  2. 2

Curl your shoulder and ribs up toward the opposite hip by squeezing your side abs. Lift only a few inches off the floor and keep your elbow wide.

  3. 3

Lower slowly with control, breathing out as you crunch up and in as you lower. Do 10 to 15 reps, then switch sides.

Form tip: Do not pull on your head or neck with your hand. Crunch with your side abs and keep your chin off your chest.
